The SSC and our alien government

Just to become ever-so-slightly political for the fun of it, I think that the fact that any government that can quickly kill the Superconducting Super Collider and yet still hold fast to the idea that we need a space station when it's already been done better and much earlier by the Russians is proof postive that we have aliens in congress.

The way I see it, some of them crash landed on Earth a while back. Lacking the skills that humans normally have, they were unable to assimilate successfully, as they could not find normal jobs. Luckily, they found their way to Washington, D.C., where they found that they could easily get jobs with minimal skills, mostly as politicians, of course.

They gradually learned about the way we work here on earth, and soon fit in nicely as normal Americans. However, they did not with to stay on Earth, but rather return to their home many light years away from here. They also realized that by completing and using the SCC, earth might become too knowledgeable and could become an actual planet of intelligent beings.

These aliens didn't want that, but they did want to get home. The easiest way, since SETI was obviously gonna take a couple thousand years before it got the right frequencies and such, was to promote the space station. This way, humans would get into interplanetary travel mode without all that knowledge stuff floating around in their heads, they figured.

So if you read in the paper 50 years from now, after the space station has been completed (even with superior alien intelligence backing the project, these silly Americans keep screwing things up!), don't be surprised if you read that a couple of politicians make a visit to the space station, probably under the guise of christening it or something.

And when you later read that the politicians are missing, along with a couple of the escape pods, then you will know the true story.

And when America's political system comes crashing down, don't come crying to me...I told you so!

Back to whatever it was I was talking about.
